Barn Swallow (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/22/2012

Number: 1

These are the same birds who built a nest last summer and raised a clutch of 6.
it is a sheltered place that is not visible so I am sure this the same pair returning to nest again. For years they have nested in the eaves of our barns and I am sure these were more adventurous birds who discovered a good, protected nesting site. They kept the backyard free of mosquitoes for us. We did have to move our lawn chairs away from the porch at their insistence. They are not bothered by out two Great Pyrenees dogs.
