Robin (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/15/2012

Number: 1

Five nests are located next to our house: 1) in a Camillia bush right next to the front door; 2) in a Crepe Myrtle bush to the right of the front door; 3) in a White pine tree next to the basement door; 4) in the eave of the roof, actually in the attic; and 5) on top of a ladder that in leaned on the house under the stairs.
We have never seen Robin nests so close to the house before, Sparrows yes, but Robins no. And I have noticed that these Robins seems to be deeper in color, very rich colors. And they are very healthy looking, large.
The nests I can see have had four blue eggs, and all the eggs hatched within two days. As far as I can tell, all nests hatched four babies. Only one has jumped, the nest on the ladder. I tried to rescue the little feller, but he was a jumper and wouldn't stay. I'm afraid the neighbor's cat came to visit. He can't be found, but the others are surviving.
