While shopping for lantana at our favorite nursery, Wolf Hill, in Ipswich, MA, we were totally blown away when a very bright and fresh female monarch landed on some zinnia right in front of us. By the time I ran to the truck for my camera phone she had departed. Since I raised over 1,000 monarchs last year, I can say this is a truly authentic sighting, not the numerous American ladies and red admirals many people mistake for monarchs. Last year was my earliest sighting in early June, this year is my new record. Now if they will only show up in my Waystation #2638, we can get this season underway.
