Monarchs Reaching Toronto In Good Numbers
Message from Bob Yukitch of Toronto, a well respected naturalist and lepidopterist:

I was up the Humber in the Eglinton Flats area, and in High Park briefly, on May 15. I saw a total of 41 Monarchs on my travels, including 3 pairs in copula. I saw 28 Monarchs at Eglinton Flats. Amazing numbers for this time of year! Unfortunately, I saw a number of females ovipositing on dog-strangling vine which is becoming more prevalent in the west end of Toronto. This species seems to be doing well as are other plant species this year.
