Bald Eagle

Date: 05/22/2012

Number: 1

For the past 2 weeks, a bald eagle has been perched atop a high-voltage transmission pole; the transmission lines runs through the Brandywine River valley.
The pole is about 30-feet north of Pa. Route 926, Street Road, and on the flood plain of the creek. Route 926 is a busy local 2-lane highway, and about 100-feet west of the pole is a single track railroad, running parallel to the transmission line and the river.
Neither the local traffic nor the occasional railroad engine's horn has deterred the bald eagle.
Today I observed a 2nd eagle for the first time.
The pole's location is less than 1/4-mile from a local elementary school (Pocopson Elementary, Unionville-Chadds Ford School District) and the eagle is the talk and delight of the school.
