This spring had the earliest monarch migration I have seen in this area. I
saw my first two on May 16, and by May 17th I had seen at least 20 adults.
This number would be considered to be high even during June and early July,
so it may be a good year. All the butterflies I observed were in good
condition (ie their wings were untattered and unfaded etc).
At the same time we have also had a lot of red admirals flying in, again in
unusually large numbers for this time of year.
