Oriole (1st Baltimore)

Date: 05/02/2012

Number: 1

The Orioles arrived before the Hummingbirds this year by one day. Generally, they arrive around one week after the Hummingbirds arrive here. Feeders are placed out for the Hummingbirds in mid-April, and late April for the Orioles in anticipation of their arrival. For the last two seasons the Orioles have only stayed for a few weeks in May and then return again in the fall on their way south. I am hoping to figure out why they are not staying for the complete summer as they have done so for years. I'd do anything to encourage them to start staying all summer again. Feeders were out and ready for their return, cleaned and refreshed many times before the actual first sighting. I usually hear them before I see them.
