Habitat

Am pleased to announce this Monarch Waystation will have lots of milkweed and nectar plants for the Monarchs as they come through our area. Have two large patches of Showy and Swamp Milkweed. Also, for a back-up, planted Tropical Milkweed, but will probably not replant it next year. One lone Broadleaf Milkweed is growing like mad out in the meadow. The main emphasis this year has been on habitat for Monarchs, but have planted many host plants for others as well. Have added lots of shrubs and trees to the property since December 2011, including juniper, crabapple, dogwood, chokecherry, nine-bark, wild plum, purple-leaf plum, chokeberry and lilacs. It's amazing what can be done with even a half acre, hopefully others in our area will be inspired to do something with their oversized lots.
