The first Monarch that I saw this season, May 17, seemed to be feeding on the dandelions on our back lawn. It was quite skittish and kept moving from plant to plant. I have seen at least one every day since, perhaps it's the same individual. I took photos but they are not prepared for uploading. This butterfly covers a lot of distance in a short time. As I tried to get closer for a better photo, my dogs became interested in the fluttering creature.
I didn't want my actions to encourage the dogs to pursue the butterfly so decided to be content with an imperfect photo.
