Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/17/2012

Number: 1

Adult monarch emerged today. It was captive raised (inside) from 1st instar larva collected on May 24th. Eggs were probably laid about May 20, so generation time was approximately 28 days. This should be 2nd generation adult, assuming eggs were laid by 1st generation adult that flew up from the south in May. I suspect a large emergence of these 2nd generation adults is occurring now, based on the large numbers that appeared in MN in May.
