Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/07/2012

Number: 1

One adult, flying around yard, landing only on native plants. Taking nectar from butterfly weed (only asclepias in bloom now), landing on leaves of a. tuberosa, variegated eupatorium, purple coneflower (avoiding hydrid salmon-colored coneflower). Seemed to be feeding on leaves, not laying eggs. This was the first monarch I've seen this year. I saw the first one on the 7th and again yesterday, the 9th.
