I was riding to work this morning on 7/10/12 and as we rounded the bend by the lake at Paul B. Johnson State Park on Tower Road, I notice a large bird flying about 20 feet over the water. I thought it a crane at first until I noticed the stockiness of the body and the large white tail feathers. I then saw it stretched out with its majestic white forward and wings spread. Yes it was a bald headed eagle flying low over the lake. Amazing, just amazing!
I did not have my camera, so I did not get a picture, but will forever have the sighting in my mind and memory. I will definitely be watching out for the eagle again. Hopefully there is a pair here at our lake.
