Hummingbird, Other Species Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/14/2012

Number: 1

We have more hummingbirds than we have ever had this year! We have verified at least 3 types (maybe 4). There were at least a dozen hummingbirds in our yard all flying around, today.
We have spotted the following types:

- Rufus, male & female: The male is a bright shiny copper color, gorgeous. The female is much lighter but has a light copper along her sides and interior tail which makes a lovely contrast to the bright white tips. She has a copper gorget.
- Black-chinned, male & female: The male's coloring is striking with his dark head, his white collar and his metallic green back crown and breast. We believe we have at least 2 females (maybe a baby) because one is noticeably smaller.
I will add more soon!
