Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 07/26/2012

Number: 1

I just looked out the window and saw a monarch! Usually September is our earliest sighting here in the desert - we never see them during the summer months. It appears to be a male in good condition and color. Nectaring on lantana at 6 p.m., 106 degrees, territorial behavior flying around the milkweed and nectar plants. The queen butterflies are in a turf war. (The photo is through a window as a record of this visit).
