Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/06/2012

Number: 1

Now that the Fall season has started, I would like to start by giving some observations of this past Spring/Summer of the monarchs here in Harrisville, Michigan. Spring started with many, many monarchs arriving earlier than normal. Some were here at the end of March with the peak at mid-May. Then not many were seen throughout the rest of May and all of June. I finally had one larva on a milkweed on the eastside of my house than went into it's chrysalis June 14th and emerged June 24th. Since then there has only been 3 monarchs observed to date (08/06/12). I have milkweed 5 feet tall with their pods, but no monarchs, eggs, or larva. I hope to see some larva soon to start raising them for my monarch presentation on August 25th at Harrisville State Park. This is when we start tagging monarchs for Monarch Watch organization. I will update again at Peak migration tab.
