Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)
Sightings report image

Date: 08/11/2012

Number: 3

We hace both Allen's and Anna's hummingbirds. Male and Female. I had 3 nests last year all were Allen's. Got some great photos of two of the nests. They were about 25 feet apart in our Indian Bay Fig trees that are about 30 years old. Each female had 2 eggs and two chicks and had two broods. the chicks all survived and flew on there merry ways. No nests this year. We seem to have more Allan's they are more aggressive than the Anna's. I have 2 feeders and they use both of them. The birds utilize my yard and the greenbelt behind our house for perching and displaying their arial displays. We have lived in this home 23+ years and have always had a feeder up and have always had birds. Even had an oriole on the feeder about 3 years ago!
