Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/16/2012

Number: 10

Driving along in my car I noticed that there are monarchs crossing my path both along the shoreline and even a little inland in Higganum. 10 monarchs in 2 hours is accurate. That's about one every 12 minutes.

I have been observing monarchs for many years. They were not Painted Ladies or viceroy butterflies. They were Monarchs! I know that this is very early to see so many. They usually don't migrate like this until the first or second week of September. We have had a hot summer. I don't know if that affects them or not but it is interesting to note.
