Monarch Egg Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/19/2012

Number: 1

To my surprise, I found a monarch egg today. I'm watching carefully to see how late the monarchs breed at this latitude. Now that it's late August the milkweed is old and ragged, and temperatures are dropping. I'll keep this one outside and see how long it takes to become an adult. I'd guess at least 5 weeks, which will be September 23rd.
