Another cool morning here in Cobourg, Ontario - north shore of Lake Ontario east of Toronto. 50 F. Fall is arriving and so are the monarchs. Yesterday,(8/20) in a 5 hour period, I captured about 170 pristine adults, many with plump abdomens, in a large clover field near the lake shore. The westward movement of these individuals into a westerly wind was obvious.
Would not have been possible without that Bioquip tropical net with the 5 foot handle, capturing the monarchs as they nectared on clover. Otherwise, they would have been difficult to capture. Skittish.....on the move.
