A maximum of 6 Monarch butterflies on or around 3 butterfly bushes in my front yard in downtown Toronto. I have been watching the Monarchs in these 3 butterfly bushes for more than ten years. I regret to inform you that the maximum numbers of Monarchs observed on a single day during the mid-August to mid September period have been declining dramatically during tthese years. In good years, 14-18 Monarch at one time during the day was not unusual. Now it is a good day, if I observe 6-8.
