)n 8/22/12, we saw 10 to 12 monarchs nectaring in the butterfly bushes and flying around the milkweed stands. We also observed what seemed to be a newly emerged butterfly. It was fluttering low to the ground in the milkweed and stopping to rest on a stem every so often. We watched it for a maybe 10 minutes, then it soared into the butterfly bushes.
