All Summer we've had about 6 residents feeding from 3 small feeders. About 10 days ago (August 15th) the numbers begin to climb and their territorial nature forced me to add 3 more feeders around the house. We now have ~3 fighting over each of the 6 feeders. It's easy to recognize the transients when you spot 2 Rubies circling a red seed bird feeder hanging on a dead Maple tree! We now have females, clearly young males and mature males, best I can tell all Rubies except one young Rufous male (see pix).
