Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/24/2012

Number: 24

We have been feeding over 100 birds this summer. We are using more than a gallon of syrup per day, in 30 oz. feeders. Some feeders are filled 2 or 3 times per day. Last week the males disappeared, which is early by our records. We now have only females, but with six 30 oz. feeders, it is still keeping us busy filling and refilling. We are the only house in our area about 2 miles from town. Remember one hummingbird drinks 1 oz. of syrup daily, so I gallon can feed 128 birds. I am not kidding about this. We are buying sugar from Costco in 25 lb. bags.
