Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/24/2012

Number: 7

I would not call it peak migration yet, but it seems to be starting. I had not seen many monarchs all summer, but yesterday they were in butterfly bushes in my yard and my neighbors. I managed to tag 2 in the AM, 2 I released that I had raised myself from eggs on my milkweed, and then an additional 12 around dinner time. I drove around to see if I could see any actual roosts in the evening and did not, but have asked others to notify me if they do. Usually I see this kind of activity starting around Labor Day, so I am glad I had my tags and net ready! Yesterday and today weather is sunny and up to 80, with a very slight occasional breeze. Please contact my email if you are near Cleveland and see a roost. Thanks!
