Had just gone out to garden in the evening and saw one adult monarch feeding from one of my butterfly bushes. This is the only monarch I have sighted this summer.
I also have seen few swallowtails until recently when they began laying eggs on the many parsley plants we try to plant for them. we usually have significant numbers of the swallowtail all summer. I will add that we also had trouble getting the parsley to grow this year. We had the hotest and dryest summer on record, so tis may have been the reason.
