Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 07/21/2012

Number: 9

The first sighting was my discovery of 6 cattapillars feeding on my milkweed. I put them, with food and moisture in an aquarium untill they formed crysilis. Two died during this stage. The other 4 managed to emerge from their crysilis and fly away without my witnessing the event. While the first 4 were in crysilis, I discovered 3 eggs on the milkweed leaves and collected them. These hatched and grew, but 1 died. The 2 from eggs just emerged today and I got to see the whole process. It was an amazing event. They have now flown off.
