This year is unusually busy, it seems to me--and I have fed them for years. We have had a severe drought and that may be what is contributing to the fact that we have many hummers and that they are perhaps more aggressive (we have Ruby Throats here so, we are used to aggressive behavior.) Of course, some of them are headed south and are passing through, I suspect.
Right now we have 8 feeders out and I make a liter of food about every other day. We are just about at the point of making one liter a day...not quite yet. That will happen in a week or three and with one or two more feeders out. Then more of them are passing through and maybe we will have another brood.
We have a mixture of juveniles and adults. I'm guessing we have had two broods. In addition to the feeders, we have plants they like so there is always something going on. This year's great success is a cypress vine. Also--unhappily--there are neighbors who have honey bees and they also love the feeders and like to dive bomb my wife! So, I move the feeders all the time.
Every day...manymany hummers. All day. Constant action.
