the hummingbirds have been working at it steadily all day. I've been surprised at how many are coming up and drinking in the heat of the day. The largest numbers I count are early morning and at dusk. it is extremely difficult to count them with all of them fighting and dive bombing and eating.I have had a few problems this summer with sweat bees but right now they're there are too many hummingbirds for them to be an issue. I know using Blue water has alarmed many birders. nowhere in the literature can I find any scientific proof that this is the of any consequence. I ask birders that put out sugar water for hummingbirds if there is any scientific literature to support that action. Does feeding hummingbirds in fact hurt or harm them as a species?in my search of the literature there is no scientific evidence to support either way. When we feed hummingbirds water and sugar we are in effect interfering with nature for our own pleasure?
