I provide two nectar feeders about 10 feet apart. All summer, an adult male has been using what I call the primary feeder, which is located on my second-floor deck railing, pretty much in the open. He's had it all to himself until a week or two ago, when I noticed an adult female trying to feed. There also is a third bird (I can't tell if it's a male, a female or a juvie) now. The resident adult male spends a lot of time chasing off the other two -- there's constant chirping, buzzing, chasing, to the point where it's amazing any of them actually get to feed! They all seem to prefer the primary feeder, although now I see more activity at the secondary feeder which also is on the second floor deck, but closer to my house nestled into foliage (I thought if his view of it was obstructed a bit, it might give the intruders a chance to grab some food before the male notices them. Silly me!)
All birds also have been investigating and occasionally feeding from annual flowers in planters on the same second floor deck.
