Two new birds have appeared in the last 10 days or so, in addition to the adult male who was using my feeder all summer. Intruders are an adult female and an undetermined. The adult male is spending a lot of time defending his territory. There's lots of chirping, charging, buzzing and hovering, and not much eating going on now. There is a second feeder located about 10 feet away, hidden by foliage, but it is getting less attention than the main feeder, which is more in the open. All the birds also are checking out and occasionally feeding from a variety of annual flowers in pots on the deck near the feeders.
