The habit I have established around my home has been under development for over five years. The first four years it was geared toward birds and just butterflies in general and the gardens was pretty much done. All I had to look forward to was watching my plants grow, bloom, and die. Then clean up time. It wasn't until last summer when I started housing blue birds and planted a milkweed that gardening became exciting for me again. Shortly after planting my first milkweed in August 2012 I noticed that some huge caterpillars was devouring my little plant. I searched online and discovered they was Monarch caterpillars. I have always known of Monarchs I just never knew the details of their needs. Since then I have been transitioning my generic butterfly garden to a Monarch habit.
