At Lynde Shores Conservation area in Whitby today I found several larvae from early first instars to fifth instars as well as three eggs. Very few adults on the wing. In 90 min I saw seven, several soaring high in the sky. I was able to capture and tag three (two females, one male), one on red clover, one on purple loosestrife, and one as she flew over my head.
There is a lot of red clover, masses of goldenrod, and a sprinkling of New England asters, purple loosestrife, and Queen Annes lace in the area.
