Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 08/31/2012

Number: 1

I have seen an increase in hummers the past day or two. Still seeing males. And they're bulking up ... some are looking quite plump. Watched one male during dinner time try to control both feeders for a good 30 minutes. While it might not have been such fun for him to chase others away from our feeders AND flowers, it was amazing for us to watch the continuous activity of this one little guy. The sights and sounds were captivating enough to make us put down our forks and just watch this awesome show going on right outside our windows. I keep track each year of our first and last sightings; 2011's last sighting wasn't until mid-October, which was a record for me. Hopefully, for their sake, they will be well on their way south by then this year.
