Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/31/2012

Number: 15

Boys left our habitat Monday, 8/27/12; our girls are still here and started to feed at 6:57 AM , this morning.
We have 18 feeders in various locations, so an exact count is difficult to determine-- using 12 cups of nectar a day. As a Master Gardener
I do a lot of mass plantings and experiment with containers. The favorite hummingbird containers contain Proven Winners Black and Blue salvia mixed with Pink Lantana and a small tree branch--If anyone wants to replicate this combination, use a VERY BIG pot--24 inches or larger, as these plants are big.
Another favorite plant is a yellow bleeding heart vine, Dicentra Scandens. Girls are playing extensively throughout the garden:)
