I don't know how to tell males from females but the hummers are coming to the feeders one right after the other, if 2 show up at the same time they fight & one runs the other off. The last 2 years I have had the Rufus hummer come to the feeder but this year I only saw a Rufus one time. It seems each time they come to the feeder now they stay longer, feeding for the migration flight, I hope they have a safe flight!
