I've been seeing up to 3 hummingbirds on the average. Today I seen 2 hummingbirds. Seems like the past couple of weeks they were really more active...noticed them more at the flowers and sitting up on the electric lines above the flower bed they visit often. About two or three weeks ago...I seen the male hummer doing the romance dance in the air...making the U shape in the air in front of the female hummingbird in the tree. That was the first time I got to observe that!
My hummingbirds mainly get their nectar from the Turks Cap Flowers and the Fire Bush Flowers...they love these flowers and there are always an abundance of flowers on the plants for them. I also have a sage bush and butterfly bush and a group of tall Mexican petunias that have pretty purple flowers on them everyday and other flowers.
The attached picture was taken maybe Sept. 1st. The hummingbird was making it's rounds at the Turks Cap Flowers.
