Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/03/2012

Number: 1

On Friday 8/31 and Sat.9/1 I watched several young and at least one mother black-chin hummer feeding and chasing each other. Today, 9/3, they seem to all be gone except one female. The feeders are at least half full but the female kept coming to the glass patio door where I was standing, hovering in front of my face. They do that when the feeder is empty and especially in the Spring when they arrive. She seemed to be saying "goodbye until next year." So sad for me, but good for them to go south. Frost will be coming soon in parts of Colorado.
