We've basically had monarchs all summer long; a first for us.
We've had milkweed constantly so we've had a steady stream of monarchs since March.
We had a few 3-5 day periods of not seeing some monarchs but they would return and flood us with eggs.
Currently seeing several daily and large numbers of eggs and larvae still present outdoors.
Our milkweed is a combination of curassavica, tuberosa, and asperula.
We've reared and released about 360 monarchs since mid-March so not sure how best to report our current status with regards to the fall migration.
Most of those here are still ovipositing so they are not part of the fall migration.
I assume that will change in the weeks ahead.
We have about 40-50 early instars inside, about 20 chrysalides, and about that many eggs outside.
Getting more daily.
Seeing lots of Queens and had a Giant Swallowtail stop by our Vitex today.
Main predator of concern right now are Red Wasps.
They have been raiding our milkweed patch for the past few weeks and doing much damage.
Our temps are very hot with mostly dry conditions.
Been blessed with some rain occasionally but for the most part it's been dry.
We plan to tag once we confirm we have migratory monarchs in our area.
Attached are a few pictures from our late summer monarchs.
