Sightings report image

Date: 09/04/2012

Number: 1

We had a caterpillar turn into a chrysalis on the artwork in our backyard. We think it was a Monarch Butterfly. We have been watching it from August 22 to today, September 4, 2012. I have 6 pictures if you are interested. We feel it did not survive. The picture taken today shows too much dryness. It is very hot here during the summer months.

Editor's Note: This image shows its a queen caterpillar, not a monarch. Queens have 3 sets of tentacles whereas monarchs only have two pairs.
