Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/05/2012

Number: 10

Girls arrive for breakfast 7:02 AM, one can easily see them gaining weight. Yesterday, (Sept 4th) we received what we call a 'Window Dance'--one of the females arrives very close to the window and does a flight pattern and chittering that we only see beofre they leave. It is an intricate dance with happy chittering, as if to say 'goodbye, I've had a womderful time, thank you for all the nectar, flowers and fun.'. Several years ago, I mentioned the 'window dance' to my neighbor who lives several miles away, and he reported that he also sees the intricate dance before they leave. We will see fewer feathered sprites this week.May God bless and watch over our small winged friends and keep them safe.
