Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 09/03/2012

Number: 2

One adult male with ruby red feathers sighted at our feeders along with four females and a juvenile male on September 3, 2012. Last year all hummers departed an Labor Day, so this is a real treat! They are feeding heavily at the feeders after first feeding on salvia black-and-blue which survive as a protected perennial in Northeast Ohio and are fully in bloom now. Other flowers in this hummer flowerbed are honeysuckle (red as well as orange), red geranium, red tuberous begonia, crimson clematis, white jasmine, daylily, and lavender rose of sharon.
