Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/05/2012

Number: 1

Students at our school found 5 or 6 monarch larvae in our Butterfly Garden today (Certified Monarch Waystation). THey were all on milkweeds as expected. By studying our charts, it appears they were all about 6 days old. We brought 4 of the larvae inside to rear in our enclosures where they get plenty to eat, form a chrysalis, and emerge. We then tag and release them to continue on their journey to Mexico.
