I have not had many hummers this year. During the blistering Illinois summer, I took down my feeders because I couldn't keep the nectar fresh and saw no hummers anyway. Now, I have had them back up for about 2 weeks and have 2 females that drink regularly--one small and the other mature. It's been tough on birds during this drought and heat. Isaac finally broke our heat and drought, but our fields of corn are producing poorly.
