I've been watching for monarchs, but haven't seen any for the past 10 days. Finally this afternoon when I was outside washing windows, one adult monarch flew by, headed in a southeasterly direction.
I've attached a copy of a photo of a rather worn-looking monarch that I took in rural Walton, Kansas on Aug. 18.
That day I saw several monarchs flying in to feed on flower plants, and it seemed they were also looking for a place to roost.
