We've had at least 1 Scarlet and 1 Summer Tanager pair visiting us all summer, but thought they must have migrated already because we hadn't seen them for 2-3 weeks. 2 days ago I thought I heard either a Scarlet or Summer singing, so I played their song on my computer with the volume turned up all the way, and sure enough, one answered! The Scarlet is now yellow and black and has sung for me every day since. The Summer is still bright red, but won't sing...although he and his mate will call to each other.
