Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/07/2012

Number: 2

As I was leaving the house this morning at 7:35 am to go to work I saw a juvenile or female hummer feeding on Lady-in-Red Salvia in the front yard. As it moved to another plant it was dive-bombed by another hummer! This was the first time I've seen 2 at once. All I could make out of the aggressive one was its green back and the bright white tips of its tail feathers. It all happened so fast, the birds flew away. One returned to the Salvia, checked out the tip of a tropical milkweed stalk [that had been stripped by monarch caterpillars, so no flower to be found], then flew off.
