Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/06/2012

Number: 1

Submitted by Don Davis: Lyle and Darlene Bunn report that Ruby-throated Hummingbirds still coming to their feeder on the Bayshore Road in the residential section of the Presqu'ile peninsula, which consists primarily of Presqu'ile Provincial Park. Closest town is Brighton, Ontario.

No further reports of the Thick-billed Kingbird that was seen not far from the Bunn residence a week and a half ago - a species ordinarily seen no further north than southern Arizona and the third sighting ever for Canada. Some suggest that the bird's internal navigational system was faulty and the bird flew north instead of south.
