After days of no monarch activity at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge, the weather had cooled down, and monarchs were on the move. During a late-morning visit to the refuge, 71 monarchs were counted. They were riding a brisk northwest wind, and nectaring on sawtooth sunflowers in the north part of the refuge. The temperature was in the high 60s--down considerably from previous days. What a delightful sight!
