Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/07/2012

Number: 12

A dozen monarchs appeared in our garden this afternoon quite suddenly at about 4 pm. We've had only a single monarch each day, so this was a clear spike in migration. We planned to watch them as evening fell in hopes of finding where they'd roost. But we took our eyes off them from about 5-6 pm--and then they were gone. Temperatures fell to about 65 degrees as soon as the sun went behind the hill, so they must have moved as they sensed that change. We hope today will be another big day so we can watch where they go as evening falls.
