Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/07/2012

Number: 8

We have a raised bed about 3 feet by 3 feet filled with tropical milkweed with a number of larva feasting. Originally we planted the bed so that we could feed purchased larva. Somehow monarchs spotted the bed in our hot, windy urban schoolyard near a major highway and laid their eggs. We saw one chrysalis at the bottom of the raised bed container. Attached is a photo of the chrysalis.
